If your property still has an old-style fuse board with rewirable fuses or no RCD protection, it may not offer adequate protection against electric shock and fire. A modern consumer unit with RCD and RCBO protection is far safer and is required to meet current BS 7671 wiring regulations.
An upgrade is often recommended when buying a home, adding an EV charger, having a rewire, or if your existing board shows signs of age or damage.
